It is with great sadness that I tell you that my dear friend Ed Rosenkrans (Poppop) passed away around 2 am this morning.  Ed was one of the greatest people I've ever met and he will be missed.

Please keep his wife Linda and his family in your prayers during this very difficult times.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I met Poppop for the first time at the Midnite Jamboree and he came across as a super nice guy. So sad :-(

Julia, I am very sorry to hear this! I never had the pleasure of meeting Ed but I felt as though I knew him through this board. When I first starting reading it he posted quite frequently. I will surely remember his family in my prayers and ask that the Lord will comfort their hearts in this time of sorrow....Carol

This saddens me horribly. POP POP was a great friend to Bluegrass music, and a great friend to me. He was one of the finest gentlemen I've ever known. I used to love getting to see him, and hear him ask me how my Dad and Mom were doing, then always, and what about you young man, How are you? When he came to IBMA to help with Rhonda's military tribute, I couldn't wait to introduce him to my Dad, and then he and dad became really good friends too. He will be sorely missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
I knew he had been diagnosed with cancer, but was hoping he could beat it.
We've all lost a great friend with the passing of Ed (Pop Pop) Rosenkranz
May God be with Linda during this time.

I have a heavy heart knowing that Poppop succumbed to that awful disease, cancer.  The bluegrass festivals will not be the same without him.  I have been so busy with school that I quickly read that he was sick a few minutes ago, and I did not see this post.  I will be praying for Linda, the family, Rhonda and the Rage, and ragers everywhere that knew him.  It is a sad time for us, but know that his soul has gone to a place of pure beauty and peace.

Ed was a fine gentleman and a finer friend. His soul was filled with a gentle kindness, mercy and goodness that are found in very few. EVERYONE who has known Ed is richer for it. My prayers go up now for Linda, and will continue to for the foreseeable future. As much as we feel our loss, it pales in comparison to Linda's loss. Ed - Rest In Peace, my friend. We can all take comfort in the fact that one glorious day soon we'll all be reunited again.
