Good Morning!

I recently purchased a Crock Pot in order to prepare meals in advance and save money.  I've never owned one before so I'm not all that sure as to what are some good things to make with a Crock Pot.

I know we Ragers NEVER talk about food but I was curious if anyone out there had some yummy recipes they like to use.

When 99 gets home I'm sure she has lots of crock pot recipes.  I'll pass on the message.  She's a great cook.

Here's a recipe for my "World Famous" SLOBBERGOLLY:
In a crockpot combine the follwing:
1 med. boneless, skinless chicken breast browned
1 or 2 links of Italian or Cajun or Chorizzo sausage browned
2 strips of bacon, cooked & crumbled.
 
1 can of broth &2 cans of water.
1 can of black beans
1/4 cup uncooked rice.
1-2 stalks of celery chopped
1 onion chopped
3-4 cloves minced garlic
1/2 each of red, green, yellow, orange bell peppers--chopped
 
1 can of mushrooms
1 can of green chillies
Add basil, oregeno, thyme, a couple tbs of worcestershire & tobasco sauce to broth. Cook all day long in crock pot

PS. Unless your spouse eats equal amounts as you, you might figure on sleeping on the couch that night with the windows open

This recipe is super quick and easy

1/4 cup water or red wine
                               

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 pouch (2 ounces) dry onion soup mix

6 small  potatoes, cut in half or quarters
6 medium carrots, cut into 2-inch pieces (about 3 cups)
3 -to 3 1/2-pound boneless beef bottom round roast or chuck pot roast

Directions:
                               

Place potatoes and carrots in the bottom of a 4 1/2-quart slow cooker. Add the beef and pour the onion soup, mushroom soup and water or wine over everything.

Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hours* or until the beef is fork-tender.

*Or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.

I am going to e-mail my friend in New Mexico and ask her for her brother's recipe on ribs.  He made them for my wife and I last year and they fell right off the bone!  We have a crock pot, it is one of my wife's shower gifts, but we haven't used it yet.  So, hang tight and I will get it to you asap!

What I do is take a little "Aaron", add some "Ben", go heavy on the "Mickey", sprinkle a heavy dose of "Hunter" and then smother all of that with a whole lot of "RHONDA" and you've got the very best of "RHONDA and the RAGE".  It don't get no better than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you got moved and settled into a whole lot of learning!

I don't like wine unless it is dessert sweet so I wouldn't know what kind of wine to use but I would like to try this. Any suggestions to what kind you have used? Thanks to Margo & Earl - I'm going to try both of these recipes - Mary G

Mary, I think she meant the red cooking wine, it would be with the marinating sauces, I believe, and it says red cooking wine on the bottle. i have used it in a few recipes, it just flavors up the dish. I am going to make it too, and waiting for Vito's recipe.

Mary I never cook with any wine that I won't drink.  I find cooking wine that you buy in the supermarket to be way too salty.  I usually use cabernet, merlot, pinot noir, or Chianti.   If you do not want use something alcoholic the recipe works just as well if you replace the wine with water.  Hope this helps.

Hi "little" One.  I put ice in the crock pot and add some American Ale.  Wait one hour and enjoy with some pizza or other carry out.

Forgot to say we are happy you had a safe trip to school AND best of good studies... actually the recipe is not good for concentrating on lessons.
